If you are not getting water at your taps, it may be frozen pipes. First, check with a neighbor to see if they have water — if not, it may be a result of a water main break. If they do have water, it’s likely your pipes are frozen. Do not apply direct heat to your pipes if they freeze. Instead, use a space heater or hair dryer in the areas around your meter and pipes. Make sure the faucet is turned on so melting water can drip out. After pipes are thawed, look for cracks or damage. If you cannot thaw your pipes, call a licensed plumber. This is not a job for the Water Dept. Inspect your water meter for damage throughout the winter. If you notice a leaking water meter, then please call the Water Dept.
